Bargain shopping?

September 28, 2007 – Comments (0)

Some stocks are down for a reason, they are not expected to grow. Some are oversold out of fear. Know the difference. Don’t think just because a stock is at a 52 week low it is a good buy!

LAMAR: YEA or NEA

September 23, 2007 – Comments (2)

Billboards in places like Hollywood and Westwood are good money makers since these cities aren’t allowing new billboards, that makes ones there more valuable. Since the movie industry does well even in recessions those billboards should do well. The bad thing is even though Lamar is from the L.A. area I haven’t seen their billboards in these good locations, it is dominated by Clear Cannel and CBS. Where I do see Lamar is in the suburbia areas that once were underdeveloped and now populated. From what I understand Lamar brags about buying these billboards over the last few years. So basically they bought them during a boom time.   [more]

Insiders Action BBY vs CC

September 22, 2007 – Comments (2)

Best Buy is my favorite place to buy (next to the internet) but I just don’t see shopping carts of product any more, just little bags and no waiting. A newer store I went into had far more employees then customers, an employee said “people just don’t seem to be able to find us.” People I ask say Costco and Wall Mart are much cheaper on big Items, and Wall Mart is now the place to go for dvds, Game Works for games and now Radio Shack will be doing the big name games. Although Best Buy sells Apple I understand Apple  doesn’t do as well in the warehouse setting. Where I buy groceries they have a vending machine that sells Ipods. It seems unlikely Best Buy is selling as much per store as they did in their hay day.   [more]

rimm Q3 should read Q2

September 20, 2007 – Comments (0)

My bad, I wrote Q3 meaning the Oct 4 report and actually that is Rim’s Q2. Q2 should be Q1 and  Q4 is Rim’s Q3.

In short Rimm needs a 20% growth in sales and eps every qtr over qtr indefinitely for its price to go up.

IRBT price to get in at

September 20, 2007 – Comments (0)

Using mathematical calculations a good price for irbt is $16.03. If it pulls back to $13 it would be a good time to get in. I am holding on the shares I have and I will add some at 16 and heavier if it goes to 13. If sales take off their stock could be very valuable.   9/20/07

Rimm Predictions

September 20, 2007 – Comments (0)

Using the existing rate of growth: Rimm is worth $93 now and will be worth $91 after the Q3 report. The eps will be up a great 18.7% to .46 but the rate of growth is slowing so the P/e will drop to 61x. The revenues need at least a 20% growth above q2 and an eps of .47 to be worth $95. A 26% growth and a eps of .49 would equal $109. It needs to hit its highest estimated eps to be worth owning.  If it has a poor outlook due to cutting prices and heavy competition the stock prices could fall drastically. These are my mathematical calculations and I am not an expert.   [more]
