Knowing that God Is God

God tells us "Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" The 18th century pastor and Princeton University president Jonathan Edwards drew from this passage in Psalms 46:10 the doctrine that the bare consideration that God is really god can be completely sufficient to "silence all objections and opposition against the divine sovereign dispensations." When we stop and contemplate the great truth that God is God, we see a majestic Being whose sheer, absolute, uncaused, ever-being existence implies infinite power, infinite knowledge, and infinite holiness.
