I was going to post about the very lovely rally we've been having in biotech and solar. We're even seeing some strength and bottoming in retail. Money seems to be flowing out of gold and into all kinds of high risk investments. But, there are still a lot of folks on the sidelines. This is a very short story -but was revealing I thought. So, is it over, is it not? What happened today? And how can you invest/trade in it? The unbelievable bull in Gold finally stumbled a week ago when in reaction to the Fed lowering rates, gold prices went nowhere. Standard response to every Fed rate cut has been: sinking dollar, rising gold. When gold didn't immediately rocket up and instead the dollar seemed to strengthen many folks were spooked out. Could it be that all the Fed's future cuts were priced in? Or with recently announced international bank actions, had Bernanke persuaded Europe and others to lower rates? [more]

Solar stocks are exploding upwards again today, proving once and for all that solar stocks do not trade based on oil price, who's leading the polls for the next American President, Germany cutting solar subsidies, or any other fundamental story. Solar stocks trade well when the market feels that risk-taking is safe. Many solar stocks don't even list a p/e, because they don't have positive earnings. [more]
