30 year Annual rate - (7115/808)^(1/30) = 7.5%
20 year Annual rate - (7115/2258)^(1/20) = 5.9%

30 year bond Feb 1979 - 9.09%
30 year bond Feb 1989 - 9.14%

There are tax issues and bonds don't do compound interest, so stocks could still come out ahead, but still they are sobering numbers.
