Grantham's GMO Q2 Letter

July 28, 2009 – Comments (1)

Since I referenced Grantham's Q1 Letter in my blog post earlier today on the bearish analysis of the economy (Grantham providing a kind of short term bull counter argument), I thought I give a shout out to Grantham's July Letter.  In it, he re-affirms his short term forecast of S&P 1000-1100, and prediction of a subsequent pull back to high 800s, which he pegs as the S&P's fair value.  He advises a flight to quality in the short term.  He ends the letter pegging energy policy as the issue for our culture and economy in the next several years.  Enjoy:   [more]

Will Fed Programs provide Mr. Buffett with another half tablet of Viagra?

July 14, 2009 – Comments (1)

Buffett's comments on the stimulus package last week have received plenty of attention.  In case you were on an island, Buffett said the 800 billion stimulus package was like half a tablet of Viagra and then having also a bunch of candy mixed in -- it doesn't have really quite the wallop.   [more]

Sergey Aleynikov A Hero For The Little Guy

July 08, 2009 – Comments (1)

Heros are works of fiction, the historical equivalent of airbrushing the photograph of a pockmarked supermodel...  As I've been reading the news on Sergy Aleynikov, the Goldman progammer who is alleged to have stolen Goldman Sach's high frequency trading algorithms, I'm impatient to see the "herofication" process begin.   [more]
