Take a look at the Global solar industry, if you know anything about solar then you know the leaders, check Daystar Technology DSTI, it is in a bit of a crisis sell off price range, that crisis being CEO shake up, this will soon pass. And Daystar looking to grab some government stimulus money to finance and expand production,

Obama is backing Solar companies with federal dollars to create 5 million jobs in the next 5 years.

Wind can work now but solar is too expensive.  There has to be a fundamental improvement of cost per kilowatt hour first.  Subsidies don't make it cheaper, just hides the true cost.  And 5 million jobs where?  China where they fabricate the cells?

Maybe I will be a solar cell efficiency technician- I already have a bottle of Windex and a rag, lol.

The thing about solar is it's applicable to jobs that some others aren't. It is mobile, and relatively small. So if the job is small, or mobile, then solar might be an option.
   I like the idea of putting solar chargers on your car battery. In the country folks use them all kinds of places you wouldnt want to constantly carry gas to. For a thousand dollars you can set up lights on the other side of the mountain in moments. Quiet, safe, easy.
    Wind is great, but solar is not a loser. Yes there will be big strides in the future, but even for current tech there is plenty of room.
