FURNITURE

IMHO all.If you look at Furniture Brands, Lazy Boy and Sealy respectively FBN,LZB and ZZ  you will see 3 companies dealing with no consumer confidence and products that are totally discretionary. Yet

....You will see the go up with no news i.e Lazy Boy LZB

.... Analyst recs for Sealy and Lazy Boy and in the case of LZB low earnings expectations they were sure to beat

... In the case of Sealy there is no reason for this comapny to not be bankrupt tommorrow yet we have 10% up swings in a week. FBN is also not a float by much.

 AUTO DEALERS

Was there any reason for Sonic automotive (SAH) to go up from $4 to $10 the last 2 months. I know car sales are picking up just this month but most of the movement was two months ago and again discretionary. Other dealers have gone up similarly like  Asbury Automotive Group (ABG) but not as dramatically

CHICKEN

Why is is that Pilgrim's pride has been a 20 bagger despite bankruptcy. I know the owner Bo Pilgrim is dedicated but darn.

Usually I do not challenge Mr. Market but why are some dicretionaries getting hammered and others like Furniture and Auto dealers ok? leading to my question of how do you define discretionary>

I wonder if Sonic automotive SAH company went up because Sonic Corp SONC the restaurant had some positive news a few days ago. I noticed that they both jumped on the same day. Is it just coincidence or a mistaken identity :).
