Money as a Measure of Karma

The economy can be thought of as a big circle, goods and services flowing in one direction, money flowing in the other.  What would things look like if you took the money away?

For most of us, those that BUILD things, or DO something, it would look as if we were doing a series of charitable acts, unworried for ourselves, secure in the knowledge that we will survive because of the charity of others.

What would a bank look like?  You'd have a group of people that don't appear to do anything, or build anything.  They take big homes, fancy cars, and extravagant meals from others, and provide nothing tangible in return.  One great, sucking, Karmic hole.

Are bankers, then, inherently evil?

Matthew 6:28 "Consider the lilies. While the lilies do not toil or spin, they do their work, draw up sustenance from the earth, and drink in the dew, rain and sunbeams. So we are to do our appointed work. It we do this, trusting in God, he will supply all our needs."

They certainly draw up that sustenance well, but they're suspiciously well dressed lilies.  I think we doing the work make the better flowers, but as usual the Bible can be taken either way.  The karma analogy, though, seems more solid.  The more you give away, the more that flows to you.  The more you try to hold onto, the more it slips from your grasp.

Bottom line, financial stocks are still a bitch to put a value on, but it seems to me that those that are willing to lend, that actually show a little faith, ought to have some spiritual reward down the line.

I think about Karma a bit differently. Karma makes you grow, it present the same problem to you, again and again until you solve it. If you delay, or take a different path, nothing is solved. You have to build up strengh and courage to solve it once and for all.

We had financial crisis in 2008, which was a result of us delaying the solution to the fundamental problems of the economy. First they were presented in 2002, we circumvented them. In 2008 we  circumvented them again. It is only a matter of time before we are faced with the same crisis again and it will be much sooner. There is no escaping Karma. To grow and prosper you have to go to the next level and it takes hard work and courage, until then you keep going in cricles.
