Saw this driving down the road recently.   Had to snap a picture.   I think it pretty much sums up the situation.

I know... so many folks are doing victory laps while more businesses are closing and more folks are losing jobs.

It's interesting how quickly the right leaning people who are incapable of thinking for themselves (not everyone is like that, and both sides have a good number of them) went from "spending money we don't have on foreign wars and prescription drugs is patriotic, and you're a traitor who hates america if you disagree" to desperately praying that America fails so that it can be blamed on Obama.

I'm not pointing to anyone in particular.  I'm just noting that, now that the political shoe is on the other foot, people seem to be falling into EXACTLY the kind of behavior that they vilified for the last 8 years.  In fairness, both sides are doing this.

Tasty:   It was some type of antiques/art place.    It was already boarded up so I could not go in.

dudemonkey:   "Left" and "Right" is a joke to placate and distract the sheeple from the real issues.  Personally I believe we would have done pretty much everything that has been done with Obama under McCain.   The only difference is there wouldn’t be the healthcare debate.  Have we pulled out of Iraq yet??  Does Goldman and the Fed still run the government?   Both parties are the same…   I wrote and called my congressman on the first 800 billion that was handed out under Bush.   I find it funny that folks who disagree with the actions the federal reserve/congress are taking and have always disagreed with the actions the federal reserve/congress are taking are now grouped in with “the Right” because the president changed.

The longer I watch politics, the more this becomes my belief.  I guess I was noting above how, now with the political situation reversed from 8 years ago, it still looks exactly the same.  Like Buffett said about TA, if you turn the political charts upside down you don't get a different answer.

Don't worry.  There is a new business that is going to save the economy.  I'm seeing their signs in buildings all over the country right now and they seem to be growing faster than any business ever before in history.  If you look around, you are bound to see their signs, too.  The name of the company is "For Lease".

Hmm - i think many of the comments are off base.  First of all, the photo is of an art/antique store that could not survive.  That kind of store could easily go under in a strong economy - these folks just decided to place blame on someone else.  And come on - do you really think that stimulus $$ would have helped them anyway?

Don't get me wrong - I agree that the photo is a good "sign of the times".  I just think you are mostly drawing the wrong conclusions from it.

Strong businesses will continue to thrive or adapt while the weak or greed-based ones will suffer.  I get the feeling that the owners of the store in the photo will simply go on to some other venture.
