aker47,
I like AA even though the aluminum market may stay soft for a year or two. Alcoa has trimmed costs and actually posted a profit this last quarter. It is not going out of business anytime soon. If it goes down, I will just buy more. The price/book value is still less than 1. It is also a rather volatile stock, that makes it a good candidate if you are interested in actively trading it.
I think VOD is a solid company, but I sold my real money shares out of pure boredom. It doesn't stray too far from an index fund so what is the point?
TNP looks interesting. I will have to do more research on that one but a cursory glance suggests to me may have to be willing to hold it a few years.
any other pics you think i should look into? basically i have $45,000 that i am looking to invest in stocks with medium risk and hold for about a year or 2. also, i want to have a diverse portfolio.
let me know what you suggest.
thanks again.
If you want to hold for only 2 years, don't put your money in stocks. Successful investing (as opposed to trading) usually requires long-term commitment.
