IMS Health agreed to a buyout valued at about $22 a share, expected to close in Q1 2010. It was a good firm and I think the buyout undervalued the company slightly. However, the offer was at a significant premium to the market price.
Other bidders have complained that there wasn't sufficient time to properly evaluate the bids, and it seems that some law firms are investigating - check the news bar on Google Finance. It's not out of the question that a higher bid will emerge. Of course, it's also not out of the question that the bid will fall through due to financing, although credit markets are in better shape today than they were last year. I'll hold on to my own shares for a while to see what happens.
