Alternative Energy

If I were a day trader, I could have made some big money on alternative energy this last month  ......but I'm not a daytrader and so I just fasten my seatbelt a little tighter and try not to lose my nerve. Down 15% one day up 30% the next. It's not any one stock (although the newer the technology, the wider the swings) but the whole sector. Good thing I've got a strong stomach and start thinking about adding just a bit more Sunpower, Daystar, First Solar or American Superconductor during the nosedives. My CAPS score hasn't been pretty the last few weeks but it's starting to rise like the phoenix from the ashes.

The fact is, we can't afford to ignore alternative energy. Our country and our world can't afford for us to ignore clean renewable energy sources. It can't afford for us to ignore more efficient ways to travel or transmit energy. And it can't afford for us to be complacent about reducing our carbon footprint.

I invest in solar, fuel cells, superconductors, geothermal, smart windows, clean water, recycling and the rest because I have to. Our world deserves it and if I make a profit in the process, all the better.

Same here... but just realize a lot of these companies are very speculative and there won't be a dramatic change on the homefront unless there is a dramatic shift in policies.

Sometimes I wonder if a few of these companies are ahead of themselves in pricing, esp. solar.  If Democrats win this November, then perhaps this country will have a comprehensive energy policy and support for alternative energy.  Until then, the support will have to come from individuals and companies that have "seen the light."

Congrats on your black quill!
