Some people just seem to have the magic touch.  When they hit home run after home run you've gotta sit up and take notice.  With 51 total picks TrackCapitalOne has achieved a score of 1560 and accuracy of 86% putting them at the head of the class for Wall Street players and in the top 300 overall in CAPS.  Perhaps its because most of their picks are in the oil and oil services industries.  But that's not all there is to this story.

Of their 14 ended picks 5 have been the result of takeovers.  Are they smarter than the average investor?  Do they know something we don't know?  Do they just limit their ratings to companies that are looking to be bought?   All I know is, if you follow their picks you have a 9/10 chance of beating the S&P and a 1/10 chance of picking a stock that gets bought out (usually in under 6 months).

Another noteable buyout picker is top-rated cipostripes.  Of his 17 ended picks 5 have been takeovers (all mining stocks).  In addition, 3 underperform picks resulted in takeunders (BSC, CFC, and LEND).  Following this player gives you a 1/16 chance of picking a stock that gets bought out.

If you're considering a stock based on the potential for a takeover (particularly in oil services or gold mining) then you'd do well to look at what these players think.   Current picks I have in common with TrackCapitalOne - MSA and MIND.

If you look at the Capital One rated stocks you should notice there is a clear bias as to why they are outperforming....they are all commodity names in a market in which oil is going up everyday and the dollar continues to weaken.   They have essentially made one bet and its working, what happens when the tide turns (if it ever does)

Yes.  I said that in the first paragraph.  The point of this post was that they are uncannily good at picking stocks that get bought out.

In any case as far as sector bets go, they're still doing better than most who have made the same bet.

I was pretty sure I wasn't the only one to add them to my "favorites" list.  Their performance so far has been impressive.

At the risk of being seen as crying "what have you done for me LATELY," I point out that cipostripes hasn't been picking stocks lately.
