PLEASE stop sending photogs out to shoot For Sale signs. Just run one of the other 4,000,000 recent for sale sign photos and save shareholders some gas money.

And for cripes sake, don't run the captions that the photog entered without letting a literate copy editor at it.

AP Photo: A sale sign stands sentry outside an unsold new, single-family home in east Denver on Sunday, March 16, 2008.

...stands sentry? I just threw up a little bit...

Tip: I know you all heard that active verbs are better, but signs -- like the Tuesday night sports editor -- don't do anything. They don't need active verbs until their alien masters order them to rise up against us. In the mean time, "For Sale sign, east denver, March 16, 2008" is more than enough.

Wtf would that photo need a caption in the first place? There's a sign written "For Sale", we don't need a caption that says it's a "For sale" sign. If these people were in charge of making signs on the highway, there would be a bunch of new signs:

-Stop

-Stop 1 mile ahead

-Stop 1 mile ahead, 1 mile ahead

-etc...

At least they could write an original caption, like "Housing going down the drain in Denver." Or use photoshop and place a "For sale, contact Halliburton" sign in front of the white house.

Hmmm... who makes those "For Sale" signs, and are they a publicly traded company?

The average editor would write the tired and overused caption -- "It's A Sign O' The Times" which would make all of us throw up.

Although, the New York Times editors might ponder: "Bush Assault On Middle Class Continues."

However, I would put my own spin on it -- "Booming Market For Sign Business."

You crack me up sometimes. My dad and I like to golf the former private courses now desperate for members that they will let the public in w/out a membership fee. Then we like to see how many for sale signs we can find on one hole.

Maybe I should take pics and sell them to the AP.

"House For Sale in front and back!"
