Reminds me. Several years ago I read a article about how the US government had wasted thousands of dollars studying cow farts. It seems they were concerned with the methane gas contributing to polution or some such nonsense.

Not long after another article came out detailing how the US government was spending another few hundred thousand to see if it was feasible to capture this methane gas by plugging hoses into dairy cattle as they are milked.

I dont know if the venture ever panned out......or pooped out as the case may be.

none of that research has been wasted- in fact if I remember right it was found the methane from cow's contributes significantly more damaging emissions to the atmosphere than automobiles do.

Also, there are a number of dairy farms and others that capture the methane from the livestock and use it to power their farms..and even sell some of the electricity back to the grid, it's already panned out.

Years ago I read a report that Australia wanted to begin a tax on cows. The money would be spent on green house gas reducing technology in order to compensate for the cow methane. I do not know if  the fart tax passed.
