RELATED TICKERS: AIG
I'm just trying to get to the bottom of a true valuation of AIG Market Cap.
According to recap plan different sources:
The US federal government has planned to sell about 20% of its stake or about 15 billion shares in AIG by the first quarter of 2011 under the recapitalization program. So given this and using some FUZZY math 15 Billion Shares x 5 = 75 Billion government shares! (This can't be right!)
Other sources are stating that $15 Billion is 25% of the government holdings for a total of 15 x 4 = $60 Billion (more Fuzzy math) ;) Market Cap of about $94.7 Billion
Other sources say that the Government owns 90% AIG! Giving the governement 6.021 Billion shares! Roughly translates into a Market cap of $347 Billion at current prices!
As of now AIG is trading at around $52/share with about 669 Million Shares outstanding giving it a market cap of roughly $34.7 Billion. (This seems pretty accurate based on multiple sources).
Any info would be appreicated to get to the bottom of this??!!
