All this spam...it's like a Monty Python skit in here

Seriously, it's become too distracting to just ignore. It takes too much of my time to sort through the BS and find the useful blog posts. This has SERIOUSLY dropped the quality of my experience on The Motley Fool.

Until further notice...Turfscape is taking a leave of absence. All the spam I'm consuming is making me feel ill.

Motley Fool, feel free to e-mail me when you solve this issue.

Turfscape,

See comment #6 from TMFJake here.  This is being taken seriously, but for what should be obvious reasons the exact approach to addressing the issue is not being divulged.

I think it's possible to implement public safeguards, such as throttling posts as some have mentioned. Also, each outside link could be obfuscated in the visible portion, and redirected through a script on the backend. Any URL going to a blacklisted site or with a referral code would be automatically scrubbed or redirected back. Any post with a shortened link (such as to bit.ly, very popular with spammers) could be automatically held for admins and not posted live, so as to be sorted later as time allows. There are already blog software modules which can do this, and it doesn't even have to be secret.
