Alstry Understands You Are Afraid

August 06, 2011 – Comments (8)

That is why he used to tell you PREPARE...Don't Fear.

Humans simply can't keep up with the intelligence and capacity of technology...technological capabilities are doubling at ever increasing rates making human functioning increasingly obsolete in more and more areas.

Each and every month...fewer and fewer people are working...even as you are told that the unemployment rate is dropping and human population is growing.....

Beneath Jobs Report Surface Lies Some Ugly Truths

You can't stop this trend as computers get smarter and more functional....they are replacing financial workers.... postal workers....teachers.....retail workers.....manufacturing workers......clerical workers......and much more......

as more jobs are outsourced to machines, revenues and tax receipts evaporate.....until cash flow becomes so low that the entire Industrial Age it is a system that depends on jobs to function.

And now we are going to impose AUSTERITY when our entire consumption Industrial Economy functions off of a deficit?

It is easy to understand why humans are afraid....especially in a country like America where people divide the problem between Human Republican and Human Democrat.

It is not the end of the world my human friends...simply the end of a world as you knew it.

Nope.  Not afraid.  Optimistic.  And a bit excited if some of my favorite companies get cheaper.  Going to go grill a burger and maybe spend some money at my local mall.  Happy Saturday.

Afraid.  Sure, I'm afraid. Take a good look at the blog archive to the right, folks.  It's Aug 6 and you've written 27 blogs, Al?

Do you work? Maybe you should get off the computer chair and get a job.

I worked 68 hours last week.  I'll do it again next week.  Do I have to? No.  I do it because I can.

The market's tanking again and my job is a panacea for someone like me who loves money and isn't work.

The economy isn't tanking, Al.  Ignorant people can rant and rave that it is all they want.

My job depends on lots of people wanting to spend their money...putting my time in demand.

And it has been more in demand every year for at least 5 years now.

You all get a grip.

Your arrogance will be humbled by the speed, competency, and agility of my computer and robot the algos and programs that drive them keep getting better, quicker, and more intelligent.

The rate at which they are advancing is incredible...they have already taken over most of the trading in the stock market.

Today, for instance.

Out of bed at 3AM.  Clocked in by 4AM.

Fryers cleaned, oil filtered, bacon to feed dozens and dozens of people cooked by 5:30AM.  I'm not done cooking bacon.  If I don't find time to cook more before we've been open too long, I will be screwed.

But they ran me totally out of everything chopped testerday.   Gotta get 5 gallons of sausage gravy made and at least a half gallon each of chopped peppers, chopped onions, chopped ham. Before I can do that I have to set up the steam table.

It's 7AM.  Here they come.

It's 10AM and I'm running out of both sausage and bacon. It's been impossible to cook more and I'm running out of biscuits too.

I get 3 omelettes started and run for the back door, dart into the freezer, grab a box of frozen biscuits, spray a baking pan, throw biscuits on it, spread them around, filling it up, throw it in the oven, and set a timer - all before my 2 western and 1 spanish omelette burn.

This is a typical day.  It doesn't stop.  I have to go at a dead run to keep up.

WHOSE economy is suffering? WHERE are these people getting all their money?

Sometimes there is a line of people waiting outside - in the heat - to get in.

THEIR economy must not be hurting, either.

We both seem to be doing pretty good.  I know I am.

Did I tell you I worked 68 hours last week?  I bet I didn't mention I almost never take time for breaks.  Instead of taking a break, if there's any kind of lull, I take advantage of the opportumity to find something else that needs done.  I may not get another chance.

It's 10:30AM.  I finally get more bacon cooked just before I run out.  I was able to pan a bunch more up while I "only" had 4 or 5 4-toppers to cook for.

I'm good at what I do.  I'm secure and often get all the hours I want.  Right now seems like a real good time to hoard some cash for a little while.

You and all the other financial/economic hypochondriacs are going to drag stock prices - for both good companies and bad - down to ridiculous levels again.

For that I thank you profusely.

Now it's after 11AM.  The lunch crowd is here.  The "lunch crowd" is a seemingly never-ending stream of people that can keep coming at me until beyond 3PM.   And when they're done, we have a prep emergency.

We have to be ready in case the dinner crowd starts coming early.  The dinner crowd runs our ass off til 9PM on weekends.

Nobody gets in trouble for staying late to help.  Help is needed very, very, moch.  Yeah - i've alway told everyone here I make $9 an hour - but I never said I worked 40-hour weeks.

I make good money.  But I work like a maniac for it.

Sure.  You all believe in this "recession."

Maybe there's a recession and maybe not.

I'm not having one, and have not had one.

I gotta go to bed.  3AM comes early. Bye.

There will always be work that can't be performed by robots and computers, Al.

And in your scenario, that means there may be a lot of people competing with me.  That's nothing new.  They come and they go.  I'm still here.

And like I pointed out in the comment section of my last blog, hell would freeze over before many people would work that hard for $9 an hour...

...and hell would freeze over before I would lose my job to any of them, too.
