AMAZON vs. GAMESTOP
Gamestop has Amazon beat left and right this year. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on some of my statements below because I simply could not FIND Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on Amazon to pre-order it.... If someone actually finds it today then I stand corrected.
But.... When you have Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 pre-order available on Gamestop and not on Amazon? That is 1 point (GME).........0 points (AMZN).
When you have 2 free DLCs offered when you Pre-Order Duke Nukem Forever: Balls of Steel at Gamestop and Amazon only offers $3.00 you can spend towards an MP3 song, then the winner again goes to (GME). That is 2 points (GME)........... 0 points (AMZN).
When you have free in-game exclusives for Pre-Ordering LA NORE at Gamestop and AMZN offers $15 promo credit towards the purchase of something else...... You have to realize Gamestop's exclusives are equal in value to the $15.00 promo credit as far as my experience goes with DLC exclusives. So? They both get a point on this one.
AMAZON is offering their $15 promo credit, obviously, because Gamstop was able to get the exclusivity. Amazon uses these Promo credits as a way to try to win over customers when they can not offer DLCs with the pre-order of the game.
The $15 Promo Credit would be nice if I could use the money to later purchase the DLCs that Gamestop provides if/when they become available on XBOX Live. Otherwise the credit is perhaps useless if Gamstop keeps winning exclusivity.
Also.... Sales Tax is quickly becoming a non-issue. The 99 cent per item charge that you get charged buying anything on AMAZON may mean you still pay that charge despite the FREE super saver shipping at Amazon. There's no such charge at Gamestop and if you live in a state where you have to pay Sales Taxes on Online Purchases then the advantage for Amazon....well let's just say the GAP has been filled.
