America's Moral Dilema

January 01, 2010 – Comments (1)

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - Some two dozen employees of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will ring in the new year without jobs.

CEO Joe Ruffalo blames cuts in state and federal funding, combined with changes in the health care marketplace. The layoffs account for three percent of the workforce at Memorial.

Why should government workers and Wall Street Bank employees get paychecks simply because the government/fed/treasury permits them access to practically unlimited free printed money despite the fact banks and govt are not generating sufficient income to cover salaries WHILE employees in manufacturing, construction, architecture, real estate and transportation firms are suffering massive job cuts and income loss simply because they don't have similar access to free money.

By govt running a $2 Trillion dollar deficit and giving bankers trillions in bailout money, America has morphed into a nation where those who get bailed out get paid and those that don't suffer.....regardless of benefit or productive contribution to society.

Why should state/local police officers get fired and paycuts but federal officers get pay raises????  Why should a small bank be forced to shut down but a Wall Street bankers get billions???  In each case, the only difference between success and failure is LIKELY access to free credit.....NOT merit or productive contribution to society.

We are sliding down a very slippery and steep slope where only the favored ones will succeed and the rest will fail......something very contrary to the principals of our nation.  Our hotels have record low occupancy, restaurants are shuttering, shopping malls are becoming ghost malls, etc.....

As we now head into 2010....revenues will contract further and the arbitrary application of free money will become more evident and visible to more and more citizens.  We will soon start to see and hear rumblings of discontent as the only difference between suffering and success will be access to free credit.

In the great depression, our government ran a surplus....when a govt worker got paid, it was with money generated from the private economy.  When a bank was insolvent, it was forced to shut down.  All men were created and treated least a lot more equal than what is going on today.

The implications of this unequal distribution of justice will start to perculate as we head into the year.  The reason why many of you Fools don't think about it is because it has never happened before, or at least anywhere near this extent.

Americans will start to ask why does my neighbor(or the employer) get access to free credit and I don't????

It will be a moral issue that will affect us all......the question now is how will it play out?

As the costs for daily living increase through inflation and increased government need for revenues, and WAGES DECAREASE either absolutely or relatively, the money remaining for housing and maintenance decreases to practically nothing.
