An idea for the favorites section

April 11, 2008 – Comments (10)

Does anybody else use their favorites page? I add people to it, but I usually use the search players field to find someone (because I usually use a computer that's slow as two overweight grandmas with a bad hips in a sack race through a fen). The fewer screens I need to change to get to something, the better.

If I had a quick list of faves somewhere on the default page of my player screen (especially instead of the buzz box - I never use the buzz box, and I don't even know what it's for), I would use it much more often. Also, if I thought OneStarHero were ever going to post again, that would help.

Friday rambling at its best ladies and gentlemen. How about a link on your favorites list where the date is. Then I don't have to see how bad you are killing me, I could just go straight to the post.

Nothing like efficiency. By the way, I finally (just printed them) got might taxes done today. Time to get back a little money from the man for having another boy last year. Nothing like getting payed for a little fun.

Dang it I just ran out of paper!

I use my favorite page.  I use tabs so I'm usually doing something else while the page is loading.

I use my favorites page often.  Its a source of many good ideas from great players.

I guess I just need to get a different job, mainly for the bigger paycheck and greater sense of satisfaction, but as a side benefit to get a better computer with a more up-to-date browser.

I have too many favorite players. It causes my firefox to seize up when I load that page if I have too many tabs open. I've been slowly deleting players to prevent that from happening...I find ti be useful when it doesn't crash my browser. :-)

TL (I guess that's what your CAPS friends call you)-

I bet TDRH has that problem unless he's got a beast of a computer.

Flea- I had to go and check it out for myself. That is way too many favs. I wonder how many are even playing anymore. I have not had any problems with the favorite page, but now that I think of your idea it would be really cool if you could put 10 of your favorite favs on the default page. Maybe where the top 10 go. If I need to know who is in the top ten, then I just go to the top ten link. this sounds like an easy thing to do. If you haven't had the chance to check on this, then by all means go to it.

speaking of favorites, did you ever read OneStarHero's blog and pitches?

I too use my Favorites page for generating ideas, but also to see if there are any general trends emerging from all these "bright ideas". You know, sector bets, sector keep-aways, etc.

Here's an idea for the CAPS Team to implement (I'm just full of 'em; they must just love me...)  How about just putting an asterisk by the player's name in the Top Ten list when that person is a Fav of yours? Thus, no new real estate has to be taken up in CAPS land. I'm hoping the computational difference (for cross-referencing the Top Ten list with your Favs list) will be negligible.

Meaningless update: I tried opening my faves section, and it just won't come up, no matter how long I wait. It's ridiculous, and it's just the faves section.
