There is an article suggesting that Britain may be in for a more severe financial crisis then Greece.  I taught in Britian in 2005 and having lived in the state of the country I have been saying the pound is in big trouble ever since.  I have not looked at the exchange rate for the pound for some time.  When I first went over it cost $2.30 Canadian for a British pound.  I just checked the exchange rate and now it would cost only $1.61.

At least the UK can let sterling decline, unlike the Greeks who are wedded to the euro. The UK has been here before in the 1970s. I expect that sterling will decline further and exports will help the country's economy expand. Labour will lose the election and the Conservatives will cut spending in order to stem the tise in the deficit. This will be greeted positively by investors and the market will rise.
