As least Phil Schiller made it through his presentation without being forced into the fetal position by the Steveies in the audience. I'll have more comment on this for an article tomorrow at Fool.com. For now, I'll say that I think a new $2,800 MacBook -- no matter how advanced -- is very poorly timed.

The software enhancements are nice but not very likely to be huge revenue drivers. To me, today's announcements reaffirm what I've been thinking for weeks: WWDC is the new stage show for Apple.

In all fairness, I think that's a bit harsh. That isn't a regular MacBook, it's a 17" MacBook Pro aimed at a whole different market segment. Certainly one to which price isn't the only deciding factor.
