What's the deal with Apple's iPad ?  As an Apple shareholder, I am glad I sold off a portion of my stock after earnings.  The iPad looks like an oversized iTouch and I'm disappointed that retained earnings were used towards such a product.

Furthermore,  Apple has not done any special dividends, buybacks, or stock spilts.  Also, Apple has not expanded beyond AT&T to the other networks.  I was reading the most recent conference call and the issue regarding an exclusive network was very vague.  Despite AT&T being the largest network provider in the US, there is clearly demand for their iPhone which they are not catering to.

Fundamentally, I value the stock around $220-$230 max.  Technically, you could probably buy the stock based off the 'greater fool theory' and bounce it to short-term $200.  At this time, I feel with the huge cash position Apple has, they should be giving back to investors instead of coming out with wasteful products like the iPad (nice name too).

By the way Amazon.com and Research In Motion BOTH have done buybacks, but not Apple.

Newsflash to Apple:  I don't own your stock out of the kindness of my heart and for charity.  Stop being so selfish.

agree or no ? anyone ? I don't think what I am saying is unreasonable by any means.  There is multiple way to GIVE BACK to investors.  These are tough times and some companies bump up the dividend a penny or so.  Great I commend them.

Research in Motion (which I own, full disclosure) also did a buy back.

Apple (and Google for that matter) are bathing in money and not even throwing shareholders a bone.

I agree with the blog.

Seems like the iPad was a waste of resources, they should be proposing a dividend if they cannot use their capital for good investments.

No Superbowl marketing or anything.  Plus they blew off the Macworld event.  This is a 'mecca' cult for Apple users.  They should not be blowing off this.
