Are the Gardner Bros Qualified To Be Fools anymore?

October 18, 2010 – Comments (10)

After all they are English Majors with questionable training in Buffett says, the language of business.

You hear very little commentary by the Fools about Fraud....about the massive debt being accumulated by our public our cities, counties, states and Federal Govt....

Year hear almost nothing about the anemic sales growth of the S&P despite the fact we are running OVER a $1 TRILLION dollar defcit.....

The fact that we are selling almost 40% fewer cars and 90% fewer new homes than just three years ago escapes commentary.........

We are having a flash crash practically everyday in some symbol or another...but business as usual?

It took Alstry to become the Fool of the Fools.....

Don't get me wrong....I have a lot of respect for those two guys.......the question is whether what we are facing is simply too complicated for a couple of English Majors to analyze?

Fraud on the current scale is unprecedented in American history.....NEVER before have we bailed out Wall Street and let Mainstreet fail.......

You think the English Majors got a little too dependent on Wall Street for their own good and forgot their roots?........had they gone back to a little Ayn Rand......Shakespare........they would have been a little better prepared for what we are facing.....

The Moral.....NEVER forget your is what made Fool such a great the question is has it devolved into just another mainstream investing site dispensing the same party line BS that is dispensed at all the mainstream dispensaries.........?

I guess we shall find out.........

Buffett also says that MBAs are basically worthless. I don't have a business degree, either, but I know more about investing than my friends with MBAs. CAPs is a perfect example of seeing how normal people can excel at stock picking, and investment professionals might be doing nothing more than spouting mainstream Suzy Orman-ish advice.

Who is capable of understanding what we are facing? It's as much overwhelming and depressing as it is complicated. Ben Bernanke has expressed a lack of confidence and a hope that what he does will work. It's a broken system, and those who have made their livelihoods in that system will be the least likely and last to abandon it.

Anyways, in defense of the Gardners, TMF is where I initially learned whatever basics I know about investing, stuff that still forms the basis of my newer thoughts, stuff has lead me to make money in the market and stuff that has ultimately led me to where I am, instead of being another middle class guy sitting on the sidelines thinking that investing is only for the rich. CAPS in particular is the best place I know of for exchanging investing ideas and seeing what actual stocks the smart people are picking.

I don't like how corporate TMF has become or how they often keep pumping out the same buy-and-hold-forever mantra despite an obviously changed game from the 1990s, but I express my views as comments to their headline news stories that I find totally silly. And every time, the authors respond to my rants, which I appreciate.

Can someone just ban Alstry and get it over with? Seriously, our beloved Hypnotoad has been silenced, but this loser gets to keep blogging? It's a travesty.

Now instead of banning me.....just buy some of their products.......that is the kind of support they would like.

Billy: The HypnoToad was a legendary poster, who posted the same thing every day in his blog, and *almost* everyone loved it. He's still the 5th most rec'd blogger of all time.

That is brilliant. How could anyone want that banned? Someone needs to find this guy and bring him back, and get TMF to lighten up.
