June 15 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve isn’t capable of offsetting the “flood” of U.S. Treasury borrowing with its bond-purchase program, which is helping to revive credit markets, Dallas district-bank President Richard Fisher said.

Hear anything about California going bankrupt today? Wasn't 15 JUN the day they needed to have their budget balanced or shut down all sorts of programs and spending? Surprised I haven't seen anything about that.

Exactly what are they supposed to do?  How, exactly, do YOU respond to the "Nothin' we can do, is there?" question?  If you're spewing doom with no hope then you're wasting your time.  If you're spewing doom with some hope then you need to insert whatever hope/solutions somewhere into the rants.  Better yet, rant about what needs to be changed and how "we, the people" can change it, then explain what happens if "we, the people" continue on our historically apathetic ways.

So, IS THERE SOMETHING WE CAN DO??????????????????

Thanks for your input Ralph, good suggestions that we should all follow regardless of what's happening in the world.

I like the "practice living with less" and the "Save instead of spend" suggestions.  The others are also useful to mitigate the affects of any number of a specific set of circumstances (civil war, major catastrophe, etc. 

Now if we could just get the institute of Alstrynomics to weigh in with something useful that would be great!
