Ron,

Step One....Wake Up.

Step Two....Wake Up.

Step Three....Wake those up around you.

When enough are awake, we can talk about what is next.

It is easy to break a single stick, tough to crack a bundle.

In the Digital Age....Knowledge is Wealth.........

and collective knowledge is power.

And here we thought Alstry was done and gone...not at all...just changed his tactics.  Glad to have you around, Alstry.  Since I know knowledge is wealth, and I am not an extremely wealthy man, I have but one question.  What do you do for a living that allows you so much free time to prognosticate on the fate of the world?

Hey Mikey . . .

I don't know how old you are, but every fool has but 15-20 year to make a buttload of money after they turn 25. Beyond your 40's, you take on a Foolish "handle," and you're proclaimed a sage. Are you aware what Oshiri means?

Some have $3 . . . some have $300 . . . some have $30,000 to throw around each day. After 15-20 years, which of those do you wanna be?

Listen to "Fool"ish wankers, or listen to guys who've lived through 6-8 political regimes and their financial (non)results, as well as how to survive a complete re-structuring.

Alstrymous is NOT Alstry. My sempai Alstry is dead. His spawn, Alstrymous, is an optimist.

You either believe what's on the networked air waves, or you leave it behind and start thinking clearly.

And if you really-really believe that your President is on top of what is happening in your financial world, perhaps I can interest you in some Euro denominated Portuguese sovereign bond.

Do you care, or simply follow what you're told on ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, NBC/MSNBC, or PBS by a Presidential spokesperson.

As an emerging markets hedge fund manager told me yesterday, "watch for inflation protected investments to temporarily swoon." Then y'all better get on it Fools!

The pre-riots have already begun in Cal-ee-forn-yah. The first in the streets have been the Oakland teachers (and their pension funds). Next will be the SEIU -- the Service Employees International Union -- and their pension fund. After that . . .which under-funded pension fund and their members will be breaking windows?

Sempai *mous . . . please tell me, which union/pension fund axis will bring the crisis?

BTW, Mother's Day is Sunday. How many Fools out there have parents that get money from a PERA (Public Employee) pension funds? How much are you willing to give, and give, and give in taxes to pay for mom's PERA benefit?

osh,

The analysis now becomes much more tricky....

We have violated the law of money....that little thing we work for everyday and save.

The Greeks have figured it out....soon the rest of the world will and at that point....those who can see what's next.....win.

To my knowledge, Oshiri means ass or buttocks.

As for the rest, appreciate the information.  My post was not meant to be a negative comment.  It was a sincere comment and question.  While i may not like the news that Alstry BLOGs about, he does a fairly decent job of pulling together a group of news items that taken one by one might not mean much to the layman, but together speak volumes.

All I do know for certain is that the world will change in the next few years.  It already has in the past several.  What the future holds is a matter of serious speculation by a great many people.  I for one am simply trying to get smarter, and as Alstry professed...get prepared.

A major change to the American's view of way of life and what people consider to be their right is coming.  It has to.  Too many people have been living way beyond their means for far too long.  So while I do not see the disasters that Alstry posted on in the past being the triggers to cataclysmic change, I do see major changes on the horizon.
