Away from Civilization for FOUR WEEKs, ALSTY's MOVIE
I've been enjoying sharing comments/suggestions/ideas with others in on CAPs via blogs, pitch comments, and emails. It's great to find some like minded Fools to bounce ideas off of. I also see that in my brief time here on CAPs that I've picked up a few groupies, (whether for my bloated pitches, free advice, or they are looking for someone to disagree with and short)! Sometimes I should short myself.
So since I'm normally trading or poking here on CAPs a few times per day, I thought someone might notice if I was gone and wonder if TSIF just gave up! We'll I've been to Allstar, back to propeller, and back up to Allstar and I plan on hanging on here, (sorry folks). For the next 4 weeks, however, I declare a TSIF holiday for those who don't appreciate my contrarian opinionated posts! You may see a few of my calls close or open with the limit feature, but overall I don't trust it enough to use it on too many of my open calls. Further, it's hard to use when you're benched against the S&P which is also a moving target. If the sky really falls then I may be back to a propeller head and kicked off the allstarportfolio, but I'll survive. My accuracy, from my "early" days, has a big impact on my rating at the level I've stumbled into.
I'll be in the Jungles of Papua New Guinea. (PNG) Half way around the world from where I am now heree in New England (during the year without a summer). The goal in PNG is some Missions work (NTM.ORG). Mostly building, but some visits to local indigenous people. There are over 1,000 language groups in PNG. No wonder the British and Australia were quick to give it up and let it become it's own nation. (Although they are not so happy now that natural resources are being found).
I will have NO telephone, no internet, no TV, no computer, (except a small netbook I'll use for sorting my pictures and journaling, (old fashion way to blog)). It should be a long, but interesting trip where I expect to be exhausted from working, but refreshed and recharged spiritually.
I am hoping that this will be a quiet period in the markets, but that all of you may profit (unless you're shorting STEC). I've been fortunate enough the last six months to gain enough to pay for my share of the trip without putting my tin cup out as others going are doing. Seeking prayers and donations is part of missions work, but it's a part I'd rather skip!
I task each of you to ensure that while I'm gone that the sky doesn't fall. It can rain a few cats and dogs, but only if they can find a good home. (TSIF= The Sky isn't Falling). I'm going to shift to a slightly more liquid position in my investments and I've tried to thin my CAPs picks a little, but there have been just as many to add each time I close some. On my real investments, (unlike CAPs), a lot, of the little that I have, is "working", so I'll probably just let it ride and I'll find out how much spiritual growth I actually did if Alstry is right while I'm gone.
Speaking of Alstry, Solaris put a link up in another blog when we were discussing garlic that he raises. I know it's good for vampires, but I wondered if it was good to help repel Zombies. I'm not sure if Solaris noticed, but on the link he attached;
http://www.zombieland.com/ I noticed that Alstry is the DIRECTOR! I noticed a few other CAPS players in the cast. See if you can pick them out! I'm looking forward to seeing the movie Alstry produced and co-wrote when I get back; assuming the Zombies haven't caused the theatres to close.
So for anyone who might care, (or be curious, or start a party), I will be gone, but I hope to be back! I'll try avoiding the cannibeals. That should be easy as I've been told that they don't "like things that taste funny". I'm more worried about the Witch Doctors who shrink heads. Shrinks have been after me for years, wondering what makes me tick. I'm afraid that if the Witch Doctors shrink my head and leave it attached to my body, that my new squeaky voice and tiny head on my shoulders will make it hard to be heard!
Take care, as a famous Governor once said..... "I'll be back".....
