When I was top fool my message was about the commercial real estate and basically that is where investors needed to be looking and keeping their caution up over.

The commercial real estate bust is now starting to play out in the banks only this time the banks are already in trouble and have not had any recovery, only bailouts, from the housing bust. Different sized banks tended to specialize in different sized loans, but all have some of each and banks that had smaller portfolios of mortgages likely have greater portfolios of commercial real estate.

Naked capitalism has a post that talks about how this causes a contraction and that the effects can last for years. It is actually a fairly serious warning.
