Bargain Dividend Stocks
Barron's feature article this week is on the top 1,000 investment advisors in the U.S. I thought the most interesting line in the report was in the subtitle: "Their single biggest recommendation: Buy dividend stocks."
That prompted me to run a screen to see if there were still some bargains in divvy world. My screen turned up over 30 hits and the article briefly profiles five. The prices on quality dividend payers have been bid up and mark-downs aren't as steep as they were last fall, but there are still some decent values out there.
Two of the five stocks profiled looked worthy of green-thumb picks. After a few days, Statoil is doing well, Aflac not so much.
I hadn't realized Dan Caplinger was writing a similar article. We each took a little different tack and Dan's article is worth a read if you're looking for some income ideas.
No position in STO or AFL.
PS I was sure I posted this earlier, but it didn't show up. Sorry if it turns out to be a double-tap.
