Bernanke on the Hill

Inspired by poetry on the HG:Philosophy board:
Oh somewhere there's a happy place where credit markets shine
Loans are made responsibly and always paid on time
Credit assigning agencies wouldn't overestimate
The quality of the CDOs their analysts must rate
Leverage is applied with care and never overextended
For fear the credit marketplace could then become upended
Hedge funds seek total return to avoid a sudden bear
Pension funds invest conservatively, and with the utmost care
But this is not that happy place, and greed can reign supreme
Rules apply sporadically, a credit traders dream
AAA+ can be applied to whatever's on the dockets
Sellers sell most anything, and fees go in their pockets
But reality has a funny way of jumping to the fore
And when things get so out of whack, the credit Bear does roar
Those samesuch suits then cry "bailout", their voices growing shrill
But they need not fear insolvency - Ben Bernanke's on the hill
