On Fool.com: Bernanke's The Man (of the Year?)

The fact that Time made Ben Bernanke Person of the Year definitely seems like an interesting topic of discussion. I brought a few of the issues up in this short piece, although there are other things that make this controversial, like how the severity of the economic situation seemed lost on him until it all went into crisis mode. Anyway. Definitely an interesting choice by Time, to say the least.

I never believed in a conspiracy until now.  I just want access to the Fed's models that showed this recession wasn't happening.  Maybe, they have a divide by 0 error somewhere.

They've made some bad calls before...who knows if he saved us from a depression, or if his actions are what will eventually plunge us into a depression?  Ten years down the road, we can look back and determine if he was a hero or an idiot.  Either way, "Man of the Year" might be appropriate...

Will we? Or will we just blame the current guy in power? (Ref: America's short attention spa...hey, is that another Tiger Woods mistress?)

The Man of the Year isn't necessarily a good guy.

What do you expect from a magazine that gave the same award to Adolf Hitler in 1938, Joseph Stalin in 1939, and the Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.

It is probably a contrarian indicator.
