On 12/29/07 I posted a blog questioning whether any big drug stocks were considered a good investment. I didn't get much response. Surely, all the experts advising us to put money into some drug companies in this environment should have been questioned by fellow Fools. Today's report that a major study of anti-depressants of at least 3 companies have little effect should raise the bar to investing in these companies. After all, some of them, like PFE, are recommendations by TMF.

I view not only the drug companies as bad investments but also the outsourcing companies. So far only VTIV has seen it's stock hurt, but that's an individual story - maybe. If drug companies resort more to buying smaller biotech's with drugs near approval, will that not have a long term negative affect on spending for the outsourcing companies.

I will add to this an AP article dated 1/17/08 that the EU regulators are investing (and raiding) pharmaceutical companies lack of new drugs from 2000-2004 and possible anti competitive implications. In addition, they're very interested in litigation to keep generics off the market. And we all know what the socialists in the EU care about making a profit.
