BREAKING NEWS...Geeknet  (NASDAQ:GKNT) Spins Off Geek.com to Ziff Davis?*...Story Developing...

Q: What about the significant investment in "Geek" Geeknet has made over the past two years and arguably irreversibly priceless branding??? Feedery? SourceForge? Slashdot?

* The ThinkGeek Tab disappeared from the Geek.com Home page and the Copyright now reads 1996-2011 Ziff Davis, Inc. Note: Matt Sweeney and Dave Colford both came from Ziff-Davis (below). Note: Geeknet has not formally fully disclosed this nor has this been confirmed by Geeknet.

Q: What is Geeknet without Geek.com??? Another pending symbol change? Why would they sell Geek.com and keep Sourceforge.net, Freshmeat.net and Slashdot.org? They wouldn't. I will reserve further comment/speculation pending actual news/developments aka [required] full SEC Rule 10b-5 disclosure.

Geeknet  announced its acquisition of Geek.com on May 13, 2010.  This one was less than a year folks...on the heels of giving away linux.com, and dumping ohloh.net as an asset sale. Who is Geeknet's Mark Zuckerberg?

AS A MATTER OF RECORD Kenneth Langone chose today to avoid full disclosure of Geeknet's jettisoning its namesake brand equity Geek.com to Ziff Davis...Geeknet, its officers, and Directors, chose instead to disclose awarding $2 million in bonuses (on top of the previous $4M) to its recently hired CFO, of which. all said bonuses are based on the awardee's pulse vs. their performance.
