I've been a little quiet here on the blogs lately, and I wanted to give you an update on what's been keeping me so busy. On Tuesday, I went to NYC to join Fortuna Silver in celebrating their listing on the NYSE. I had an amazing experience, not just for the thrill of entering the exchange building and walking past the trading floor, but for the pleasure of meeting Fortuna CEO Jorge Ganoza, their VP of Exploration Thomas Vehrs, and multiple members of their board of directors. The more I learn about this company, the more excited I get. I am fascinated to see where their next growth platform will emerge from as they continue the ramp-up at San Jose.

In the elevator on the way out, I met Jeffrey Christian, managing director for CPM Group. I'm sometimes terrible with faces, so I didn't recognize him until he handed me his card. He was kind enough to relate to me the interesting history behind the bull statue in NYC.

Now for the really exciting news, and please join me in thanking The Motley Fool for making this possible. The Motley Fool has kindly offered to send me to the Vancouver Resource Investment Conference next week. It has been long overdue for me to attend one of these major events, but to date I have not had the opportunity. This one would not have been possible without the help of TMF. I have already lined up multiple interview with mining company CEOs that I know you will find valuable, and I encourage you all to stay tuned (here at my blog, through my article list, and by following me on Twitter) for my multiple write-ups that will come out of this experience. I don't want to spoil the surprise by revealing which interviews I have lined up, but please feel free to cast your vote for which companies you're most interested in getting the inside scoop on, and I will make every effort to visit their booth at the event and speak with senior management or their representatives.

Hey Fools, don't forget about CDY. The stock is already up 42% since I featured it as my #1 stock pick overall here just over 1 month ago. I'm not saying it couldn't conceivably pull back again before moving higher, but in the long-term view this little surge is just the beginning.

Do you have a price target for CDY? I bought it for my real portfolio after your second pitch (addicted to CDY) and got in around $0.90/share. I don't recall seeing one in your pitch, except for the NPV calculations of some of their projects.

Not really at this stage. I'll begin honing a price target as the asset moves toward production, but I can tell you it's north of $4. A stock doesn't become my absolute #1 pick unless it has some serious multi-bagger potential. Glad you're along for the ride.

Welcome to the space. I hope it treats you well. Of course, given its miniature capitalization, Alexandria and any other non-producing resource junior fetching under $50m must be considered high-risk vehicles and approached accordingly. It happens to be my own largest holding, but that's a wager I've taken after careful assessment of the risk/reward equation.

I am in regular contact with management, but yes, I will defintely be hanging out with them in Vancouver as well.

Some of you may have noticed a recent press release gave "this winter" as the timeframe for the Akasaba estimate. Because I had expected the estimate for right about now, I called Mary for an update. The board has decided to delay the estimate by about a month in order to incorporate those recent deep drill results into the resource. As much as I was counting the days with excitement for its release, I'm happy to wait another month to make sure the result will have dramatic catalyst power (presuming normal market conditions where achievements are actually assigned value).

Without question, the resource estimate will be a critical moment for the stock. Either we get some sort of bump out of this ludicrous valuation, or the company's road ahead will necessarily involve additional dilutive capital raises. I'd like to think the stock will break out in a major way as the global resource surges well beyond 1 million ounces, but after watching this market ignore achivement fter achievement by a slew of junior explorers, it is difficult to predict the market's near-term response. Disciplined value investors will calmly await the inevitable re-rate, but in this scenario further failure to break higher would spell dilution.

I remain tremendously excited about Alexandria's assets and upside potential, but in this sliver of the resource space, investing with both eyes wide open is utterly essential.

In the meantime, I'm glad my #1 pick referenced above is already correcting its insane valuation. If all goes according to plan, we'll begin to see the same from Alexandria in February.

Whiskey Jack Project

The Whiskeyjack Creek property is located in Cairo Township in the Larder Lake Mining Division of Ontario. Situated approximately 5 km east of  the town of Matachewan the claims are easily accessed via provincial Highways 66 and 65.

The property covers a wide band of an east to northeast trending assemblage of mafic to ultra-mafif volcanic rocks with felsic and interflow sedimentary units which have been intruded by conformable mafic to ultra-mafic body to the west and numerous syenitic to quartz diorite units to the east. The central portion of the property is transected by a major deformation zone that is interpreted as a splay from the Larder Lake - Cadillac Break that hosts or is associated with significant gold deposits between Val D'Or and Matachewan.

The company entered into an agreement with Alexandria Minerals whereby after expending $350,000 on exploration and 50,000 shares Alexandria would earn a 50 % interest in the property. Carmax and Alexandria are currently negotiating a joint venture agreement.

I still can't believe my good fortune in getting this exclusive interview with Mark on the very say his company gets the buyout deal. It was an amazing discussion, and it will be out in multiple parts over the coming days. I'll write a separate blog post summarizing the experience with a preview of write-ups forthcoming. It was truly an incredible time! Some of you all need to attend one of these events. How great would it be to organize a Foolish reception one evening during the conference?

Wow.  I sold PAAS  on April 14, 2011 @  $37.25.

I missed your sale of MFN.   I still have mine based on a prior ( 4/8/11)   article of yours &  my subsequent D. D.:

I stopped following PAAS after  I sold it. But, I recently looked at the fact sheet from their website:

Can’t buy any PAAS  this quarter.  For  2012, I have quarterly investment  “Themes”.    My “Theme” this quarter is buying  less  than  $1 per share PM miners.
