Businessweek has provided a list of companies that they judge to have the safest dividends using S&P data.

there are several pharma companies on the list: JNJ, Abbot, Bristol Myers. Both major payroll processor companies, ADP and Sysco, are also there. Intel is there. So is P&G. Industrial-related companies include Genuine Parts (replacement auto parts),  Emerson Electric and Illinois Tool Works. Sysco is also on the list.

At today's prices, my favorites are , in no particular order, Johnson and Johnson, Paychex, Sysco and P&G. I own JNJ and Paychex. I'm thinking of P&G.

Some good companies on the list.

Surprised to see so many with payout ratios of 70%+ on a safest dividend listing.
