This is a bit out there but nevertheless it has some good points, not to mention being an excellent spoof.

So think back with me, back to the 1970's and the song Miss American Pie. If your memory needs jogging see the first video below. Otherwise go to the second. 

The guy is a right wing nut job (who just happens to be able to sing) but nevertheless he makes a good point: consistently importing all our crap isn't good for us. Whether it is the massive buildup of debt in foreign hands or simply getting an unsafe product there is very little good about being massive net importers. I really wish we could go back to the early 1800's where we got much of our tax revenue from imports, exported stuff everyone needed, and made most of what we needed ourselves.
