Detroit gets go-ahead to resume demolitions

Home demolitions resumed in Detroit on Tuesday as officials from the city and the state Department of Natural Resources and Environment met to ensure compliance with state and federal demolition regulations.

EXPECT MANY MORE CITIES BEING DEMOLISHED AS INDUSTRIAL COMPANIES SHUT DOWN ACROSS THE NATION.

People working for the largest employer in Freeland began receiving notices of scheduled layoffs this week.

Mayor Tim Martin said the borough was also notified that layoffs at Garland USA will begin in June. Martin said he was unsure exactly what day will be the last for production.

Manitowoc Foodservice, an international firm that manufactures food service equipment and owns the Garland plant, announced plans to close last year, stating production in Freeland would stop in July. Manitowoc also announced that its other plants will be affected by a company-wide consolidation plan.

Martin said the company will keep its customer service center open and retain about 20 office staff for about a year after production ceases. About 200 employees will lose their jobs when Garland's doors permanently close.

In the meantime, the company is marketing the 160,000-square-foot building, he said.

The plant contributed about $50,000 in borough tax revenue.

AT SOME POINT, TAX RECEIPTS WILL DROP SOOOOO LOW THAT GOVERNMENT WILL BE FORCED TO LOOT RETIREMENT AND INVESTMENT ACCOUNTS......IN ADDITION TO OTHER METHODS TO CONFISCATE ASSETS INCLUDING RASING PROPERTY TAXES TO THE POINT WHERE THE DWELLINGS WILL BE RENDERED ECONOMICALLY WORTHLESS.
