I've been thinking for a couple weeks about companies that fly under the radar in run of the mill industries making reasonable but not explosive profits. Do businesses like these prevent others from entering because their growth isn't dynamic or their business plan isn't unique? Do these businesses have an advantage because they aren't on the front page or marketed as the next big thing? One example: CCO. Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. The irony here is that you see them everywhere. They also happen to be trading up 62% in the past year.

Here's another couple- WM, Waste Management and TAXI. Most people know Waste Mangement and try to stay as far away as possible but TAXI is involved with financing taxi cab medallions. Who knew such a business existed?
