CAPS top 40

January 05, 2010 – Comments (2)

OK, I'm now in the top 40 for the past 30 days (increase in score). 23 of my 28 CAPS picks for 2009 score in positive territory.  Better yet, my real-life portfolio is up over 100% since the low in March.

"Whither?" you ask me, "whither?"

Answer: It's either this or that.

If normality returns, the stock market, looked at over the long haul, has some serious catching up to do, the next 5 years should be excellent.  Go long.  (See my last post for some specific suggestions).

OTOH, if we are, as some suggest, in a truly unique situation, about to face a world-wide crash of unprecedented proportions, then we're all doomed anyway.  Stock up on canned goods and hunker down for "The Road".

To be honest, there's a pretty good case for doom.  I wouldn't count it out.  But if so, you aren't going to escape by shifting to bonds or cash or gold.

Advice:  Go long and make sure you're right with God.

The current mob of Prophets and Doomsayers are rather boring. I prefer the Quatrains of Nostradamus and Biblical Code when the morbid muse visits my fevered brain. Below is from Nostradamus.

When the litters are overturned by the whirlwind
and faces are covered by cloaks,
the new republic will be troubled by its people.
At this time the reds and the whites will rule wrongly.
