CAPS Editorial put together a new weekly article series where we select a top CAPS pitch from the past month.

You might as well give my buddy TSIF a monthly column then. :)

he's easily the best regular pitcher on CAPS and he's one of the few that will actually pitch over your required minimum 400 words.

I do like this idea, but given how the pitch systems is now sicne the ticker page change, I worry you'll run out of material.

TSIF, TMFDeej, and zzlangerhans could all handle monthly columns. :-) I'm hoping by doing this series and making it easily followable it will nudge members to submit better, more comprehensive pitches, and will be valuable to the community.

I might also start announcing how many people viewed the previous weeks pitch to show members they can get themselves in front of a large audience.

I'm not that worried about running out of material since we get about 500 pitches a day, but what do you mean by "given how the pitch systems is now sicne the ticker page change, I worry you'll run out of material."?

No doubt!

Ah but how many are over 400 words?

I think I'm the top 20 of Pitching allstars (not due to quality but due to volume) and I doubt I've written a pitch over 400 words that didn't include quotes from an SEC filing. By far most pitches I've read or written have been under a 100.

That was more my point

Sounds like a can't lose idea as long as you have the time and desire to do so.

Oh that's right I don't think I've ever talked to you before Dan. My apology. That was more directed at Jake who I've mentioned this concern before to. (I copied and pasted this comment to both blogs).

This will sounds stupid but I really think the new layout of the ticker page has cut down on people pitching considerably. The way the pages is now laid out pitches require an extra click to read fully and rec. Furthermore you can't read the bear and bull pitches simualtaneously anymore. It's not nearly as impulsive experience as it used to be (where you could rec and read without ever leaving the tickerpage) I think this is cutting down on recs and thus weakening the carrot/social reward if you will to write a pitch.

I know you guys have a lot of needs to balance so I understand if fixing this is either viewed as uneeded or infeasible, but that's my take on it anyway.

To be honest it's the only way in which the old age was superior to the new one, but it may be the most important as the CAPS pitches and star ratings are about the only unique information the CAPS page offers despite its' admirable depth and completeness.

Anyway not trying to be negative. I applaud anything that drives the CAPS community more back to individual equity discussion. I like this idea/initiative very much, just think it might need to be thought through a little more. I'm sure you guys will make it a success if you want to.

Yeah thats what you want from me... instead of 150-250 words of sarcasm you'll get 500 =)

Interesting experiment though, I like it.....

And I suspect I will be #2 in pitches soon enough but I will never get close to catching TSIF.

Missed this blog somehow.  I did see one where they were looking for Awesome pitches greater than 400 words and while I agree with Tasty that there are several long winded wordy pitchers, aspriring to the term  awesome limits the pool, although I do believe you found one with the first in your series  from mghaynes1

I'm surprised at Ultralong....he was looking for the top pitcher spot a few months ago to go wtih top everything else.   I doubt he's giving up that easy, so I will be watching my back UL!!!  I was worried that allstarportfolio would be an impossible composite player to stay ahead of on pitch recs   Darthmaul09 has me watching my rearview mirror. I'm not sure how he gets so many rec's with a relatively small number of followers. Must be his timing or stock selection or......

UL will give you some awesome pitch material, of that I am certain.

I agree that getting pitch recs is harder with the new page layout.  You really do have to write pitches that get attention and are long enough to bleed over to get the reader to click the "more" link, opening the pitch so the REC spot appears.

Dan, how about a new charm for encouragement on this one.  It would be an obtainable rare charm with only a max of 52 players a year achieving it.
