Earlier this month, our community made its 3 millionth CAPS pick. This is a milestone number, not because we ever had such scale targeted by such-and-such date as the CAPS team. Nope -- just a milestone because it's a big round number that deserves to be recognized.
Ever curious about the minutiae, I asked our database team to pull the pick at that date and time. For the record, the three millionth pick was made on February 2nd on or about 1:09 PM Eastern. It turns out to have been made by Paxtor, and -- for those scoring at home -- it was an Underperform call on Retail Ventures Inc. (RVI). Since making his first picks on CAPS late last year, Paxtor has parlayed his efforts into a Score of +669, an Accuracy of 64.4%, and a CAPS rating of 98.73.
To celebrate the 3 Millionth Pick, we sent Bill a signed copy of our new book Million Dollar Portfolio and e-mailed him a few questions. We're always interested in learning more about the stellar performers in our community. Here's the short interview (please note this occurred on February 6th in case this colors any comments below):
PAXTOR: Hi there, thanks for the prize.
FOOL: What's your favorite stock at the moment?
PAXTOR: GM... haha, just kidding, I have no favorite longs. So, "not applicable," I guess.
FOOL: What stocks do you currently own?
PAXTOR: I own no stocks currently, but I have borrowed a few from my broker, though (if you know what I'm saying).
FOOL: Describe your investing style.
PAXTOR: Buy the oversold, short the overbought.
FOOL: Name a great book you read recently.
PAXTOR: Day of the Triffids, by John Wyndham.
FOOL: What are your 2009 predictions?
PAXTOR: Reality will finally set in.
FOOL: What would we find in your iPod?
PAXTOR: I have a generic MP3 player, not an iPod.
FOOL: What is one thing you wish CAPS would do?
PAXTOR: Not allow users to "re-up" on their picks... it's an unfair practice that gives users who spend all day on CAPS an advantage. If you repick a pick it should just pick up where it left off.

Congratulations again, Paxtor, and Motley Fool community!
