CBS makes me cringe

June 16, 2010 – Comments (4)

Some people won't invest in Philip Morris because it sells cigarettes. Some people won't invest in Playboy because it sells porn. I'd like to stand among those who won't invest in CBS because its show Two and a Half Men is vulgar.I watched a few minutes of the long-running show this week and am thankful no one else was in the room, especially a curious tween or a straitlaced uncle. Charlie Sheen's character twice referred to his state of sexual arousal and asked his brother, played by Jon Cryer, about any sexual contact he may have had during his night in jail. It's not so funny written like that. But it wasn't so funny coming out of the characters' mouths either. At least not to me. It's just not necessary, as my mother used to say (and teenage me would roll my eyes). What nonfinancial reasons you have for not investing in certain companies?

Having an opinion about morality and what's good taste now constitutes "living under a rock"?

I just think the show is annoyingly stupid, plus I can't stand Charlie Sheen as a person.

Does as irrational appetite for FAZ (even when it causes personal financial losses) count?

I consider it as much a moral stance as a hedge.
