China Small Cap Battle Royale: CGA vs. NEP

Recs

8

January 07, 2010 – Comments (12) | RELATED TICKERS: CNEP.DL , CGA

CGA or NEP?! Who will win this contest? Who will stand on the podium of glory and shout to the world the words of the champtitudinous? Late in 2009 those in the know proclaimed 2010 as the year of the fertizers producers. Now with oil on the rise will Texas Tea taste all the sweeter? Both are growing. Both are well run. Both Both make Big Papa Jiabao smile. Which of these scrappy booming market small caps win the year? You make the call!

I'll take the first jab in this fight and say that I think, because of all the hype, NEP will outpace CGA at the end of 2010. CGA will put in a respectable showing.

NEP will quadruple.

CGA will double, if not triple.

What say you? What does your tarot deck tell you about these two companies?

My vote is on NEP, but I own both so I guess you could say I'm hedging my bets.

Dante,

Two stocks enter. One stock leaves. LPIH.OB will have to step into Thunderdome later.

tkell31,

I just bought a position in NEP as large as I have in CGA. Since I don't see losing with either this should be fun.

Have a great weekend,

Cato, the bet hedger.

How about CHOP, Cato? I would like to see that enter the Thunderdome at some point, if you ever do a battle royale amongst Chinese micro caps.

And re: NEP and CGA, I say NEP all the way.

My money is on LPIH.

I'd take CGA over NEP right now though.  I'm short-term short NEP.  Conversations I'm following suggest $8 might be a nice entry point in coming weeks.

None of those stories involve NEP so I doubt it will drop to 8.  If anything they may benefit from the larger companies problems.

I do like LPIH as well.  Great thing about investing, you can own all three!

Dante & Blue,

Put them into you own Thunderdome against a second stock and see what the Peanut Gallery has to say. I'd enjoy reading what you have to say.

Over the last week NEP has become more of a bargain. Hmmm...:)

tkell31,

NEP shorts closed at $8.20 for $2/share profit. ALMOST picked up some NEP at my target price well below 8 today.  Maybe I'll have better luck Monday.

LPIH update. Since I've rec'd it often, I closed LPIH at $2.75.  Looking for possible re-entry below 2 (unexpected dilution has tainted this once promising stock in my eyes).
