Congress looks to buy re-election with defense dollars

Chairman Jack Murtha (D-Pa.), who has a solid reputation for giving the Pentagon things it doesn't need, was once more concerned that the war fighters didn't ask for more. "You only put $2 billion into the budget," he complained about one project. "I assume you'll ask for more money?"

More great examples of the fleecing of America (in the name of defense, freedom, or whatever other euphamism these cynical grabbers use) by our elected officials.

Pretty funny write up, although I was surprised how (relatively) quietly the F-22 Raptor went into the night, all things considered. What kind of footprint did it have, its production was spread across 46 states? Similarly, he's been pretty successful at cutting programs still not in production (Missile defense, future combat systems, etc.), so there's hope yet that he can run the bureaucratic gauntlet and eliminate some ill-conceived and expensive projects in the process.
