Good short term pick DragonLZ.

Since I am not really very good at picking the short term up-ticks and down-ticks in a particular stock, I just put it in my Watch List.

I think their up-tick came from the sale. Not sure it will hold.

Some time ago I thought about setting up a seperate portfolio to invest in what I refer to as "Slot Machine" stocks.

This was one I was considering, along with Fannie and Freddie, AIG (at that time), Siri, and a few others.

These are stocks that are "super down", usually for good reasons: but had former highs many, many times their current price.

Buying them would be akin to pulliing the handle on a "one armed bandit", hence the name.

You would etiher kiss you money goodby, or you would hear the "bell ring".

I think I might reprise that idea and open another CAPS to place them in

I'm not saying that SRZ is a loser, I'm just not sure it has overcome all of it's problems to the point that I could really consider it an investment, as opposed to a gamble.

I will continue to watch what happens with this company, and if I see something that makes me believe they have really turned the corner, then I will consider "investing" in it.

Hope for your sake it continues to work out.

Have a nice weekend,; at least what's left of it.

UltraLong,I took my daughter to McDonalds today, and you know what "creature" was featured on her Happy Meal box: DRAGONOID.

It said: DRAGONOID is the powerful leader of the Baukugan. Highly intelligent, he can radiate intense heat in battle.

Just mentioning this as a friendly warning.

Shorting dragon's picks might not be the best idea. You might get severely burned (by intense heat)... :)

jason, OK, I'll tell you what my secret (magic) is:

I steal all of my picks from this one guy who created his portfolio the last day of August and already has a rating of 96 (pretty good, I'd say).

He also already has a few stock with a 50+% gain (with SRZ being up almost 100%) in his portfolio, and all of that in just a little over a month.

I think you should definitly check his portfolio out.

Once you do that, check out his list of his favorites, which might give you some insight in his investment strategy... :)

His portfolio is here

Good Luck!

It's funny and ironic that you're telling the #1 Caps player not to mess with the dragon.

Alex, luckily for us fools, our Top Fool is a smart guy. He realized something you couldn't. I guess you never bothered to see MarketWhisperer's list of favorite players.

The guy is really good, I'm telling you. 95 rating (that's almost 75 higher than your rating) in 5 weeks...

Also, I'm sure UL already knows (and you should too): MW will be a Top Fool in just a few months... :)

Teacherman, yes, I do agree I have a lot of stocks in my CAPS portfolio, and of course, a lot of them are not my real life investments. Still, I think a lot of other high rated fools have many more than I do.

When I first created my CAPS portfolio, I only had my RL picks in it, and I was doing OK - I'd say my rating was around 95.

However, at one point I realized it's going to be very hard for me to get to my goal (to be among the Top Fools - top 10 or so) without accumulating a bunch of points on a bunch of stocks. That's why I recently loaded up my portfolio with 100 picks.

At this point, I think I probably have enough stocks in it, and will stop adding new picks as I think that will help my accuracy.

So that's my story...

Have a Great Week and Good Luck!

I use MarketWhisperers portfolio as a watch list for my next shorts. Almost every company is massively indebted, has little working capital, negative net worth, poor or junk credit status, and is technically heavily overbought. These garbage picks only work when the market goes up 6% in 5 days and this rarely happens. When the market drops or even stabilizes these garbage plays will come back to earth very quickly.

Has anyone felt the heat today when SRZ jumped 16%...?

You can still save yourself if you close your short position on this one before you get 3rd degree burns...
