Do You Really Think The Gardner Bros and MF Staff Are Smarter Than A Computer?

The Blatant Market Rigging Continues

And yet they TRY to sell you "investment" advice as we move into the Digital Age where almost no one is investing anymore relative to total market volume.

It amazing how a website designed to educate the individual investor fails to inform them that the game is now rigged with most trading simply controlled by HFT computers trading back and forth to each other.

At least Alstry admits and is honest with you that it is a

EVERYTHING CHANGES IN A CLOUD BASED WORLD as computers and machines take over most human functioning, including investing and investment advice.

Interesting that someone who doesn't believe in recommending stocks and who doesn't believe in government bailouts/handouts, doesn't mind using a free investment site to self-promote.

Then you have the gall to insult it.

You, your spam, and your self-promoting click throughs are hipocritical and pathetic.

The mods should have classified you as SPAM instead of Hypnotoad.  At least he provided some comic relief.

I am not sure whether you understand what the role of a Fool is to tell the KING the truth, without fear of retribution.  The KING appreciates having the Fool around because he is tired of getting his toes sucked with BS from the Sheep.

Think about that as the Industrial Age collapses over the next few weeks and months and we head into the Digital Age.

It is the generosity of the Gardner Bros which allows me to speak the truth....

Alstry, I don't believe you know anything about investing.  No computer can defeat my style of investing or render it ineffective.  People seeking capital gains, yeah, I can see where the quants might make that harder.

I made a lot of money saving and investing while you and others (MANY OTHERS) were all congratulating each other for "being smart enough to stay out of the market at this time"  in late 2008 and all through 2009.

my friend, enjoy this brief few years, because you have no rational understanding of the term "investing"

and you have little clue what lands just over the hill ahead:

Because NONE of that matters when the PRIMARY difference between survival and failure is whether you get a hand out from government.

Kiss any form of FREE Market economy goodbye AFTER 9.09 when we just started printing money out of thin air.

The perfect example of this is the fate PUBLIC homebuilders vs. PRIVATE homebuilders....the PUBLIC homebuilders were bankrupt but/for a handout from Washington and Wall Street.

Handouts have NOTHING to do with Capitalism and business analysis.

Dear truthisntstupid -

Whatever alstry has or hasn't done in the last couple of years, he (or someone using his login) used to debate floridabuilder and a few others about specific companies, with detailed write-ups and such, but stopped back in 2009 or so. Of course, he was as obnoxious with floridabuilder as he is on his own blog, and started trying to prove that fb was using multiple accounts (he wasn't, and that's not a crime anyway). So alstry knows something, he's just having more fun ranting like a street corner prophet. Like Tony Shalhoub in that one otherwise forgettable romcom.

Sometimes I think Alstry is just crazier than hell, but on the other hand, 'prophets' always were considered to be insane, going all the way back to Old Testament days. Wild-eyed and raving, burning and ranting incoherently, caught in the grasp of whatever obsessive fever or fervor consumed them, be that God or otherwise, they came across as utterly insane.

Maybe that's Alstry, simply beyond the grasp of rationality, because his mind is incapable of such as we see rationality at this time, and maybe he's even right. Or maybe he's a digital Pan just playfully having fun at the expense of all of us and of himself, but whatever he is, the message isn't quite coming across, as in I don't quite 'get it', and I've read all his blogs.

It sounds to me like he's talking about Singularity Theory with this 'Digital Age' and 'Cloud Based Economy' stuff he's talking about, however Singularity Theory goes far, far beyond possibly even his wildest imaginings, where technological intelligence is accelerating at an exponential rate even right now as we speak, and that exponential rate feeds upon itself and grows, such that one year from now, the computational power on the planet Earth will be in the 10th times what it is now, and in 5 years, in the thousands times greater, and that exponentially grows at an unstoppable and increasingly accelerating rate, and some even believe that we might see effective immortality within our lifetimes, as the machines become that smart as to extend us on to virtually forever.

I would suggest that Alstry look up Raymond Kurzweil, read about him, and read his works. He is an unquestioned genius level intellect, and his expessed theory of technological Singularity would  blow the esteemed Alstry right out of the water.

Sorry dude, but there are much bigger things than Wall Street, and none of the stuff you're ranting on might even matter. There are much bigger things afoot, that you are correct upon, but you haven't even begun to scratch the surface. The possibilities are limitless, and they are coming.

Well Alstry, if that's your point, then you need to express it more clearly, as opposed to some endless regurgitation of negative news- because the reality is there has always been negative news and always will be, and such is the lot of humanity. We're born, we suffer pain, we suffer losses, we suffer hurt, and then we die. That's the reality of humanity. The point of Singularity and the limitless possibilities, fears and questions it represents once machine intelligence surpasses that of humanity upon this Earth (and which will happen within our lifetimes), is that maybe none of that even matters anymore, and that there are much, much larger things than any of this, and that they are coming as inevitably as the tide rolls in.

And no, I didn't learn any of this from you, and in fact I castigate you for failing to get the point across if indeed you are talking about Singularity. It's so far beyond Alstry and so far beyond any of us that it's nearly offensive that you'd try and claim it as your own, especially since you can't even express it coherently in your blogs. I can't even begin to express, and I've studied it for years.

A little humilty, my friend. It really never hurts. You have absolutely no idea, and neither do I.  Yeah, the world is changing, and it's going to change so much more. What mattered yesterday, what matters today, it may soon not matter much at all any longer, and that's really all there is to say. I will sit back and watch, hope and pray for myself, my children, my children's children and the future of all of us as we sit back and watch us assume the presumed role of God above and dare to touch the limits of human immortality and the endless possibilities ahead. It's breathtaking. It's terrifying. And no one knows. We could all die in an orgy of mutually assured destruction. We might all effectively live 'forever' or some lessened version of such, but whatever the changes, they are coming and coming soon.

That should frighten you, and humble you, and make you eternally glad to be alive to see such possibility ahead, no matter the uncertainty and fright such possibilities might assume.

Humility, Alstry. Learn the word. Please.

If you think the market is rigged you should be very excited, because if you can recognize the flaws in teh rigging, or the patterns in how it's rigged, you can exploit it even more than the system itself. The HFTs are only focused on making pennies in the shortest amount of time possible. Great, let them create huge volatility because the computers are too stupid to see the big picture. There is an amount of capital in the world that is going to flow in and out of certain areas, so recognizing opportunity will be easy.
