Sometimes we don't even find out that someone died - in fact, I would guess that's the most likely outcome.
It is life's sudden, unexpected and tragic events such as this, which also happened to a relative of one of Paula's best friends (sudden stroke), that goaded me to at least make sure that Paula knew where our trust, deed, stocks and other financial records were located. When Paula told a few friends that she and I had done this, they asked Paula to ask me to write something up so that they could goad their own husbands (or relatives) to write down some of this important information in case of an unexpected disabling or mortal event.
I did so, and Paula and I sent it to a few friends. I told YodaOrange about this, off line, and he suggested that I post it on a Google Documents web page in case any of you would like to see it. It is far from complete, of course, but I figured that "the perfect is the enemy of the good," and that many would ignore an 8-page questionnaire but might respond to one of just three pages. It is addressed to men (who I suspect most often run the financial and investment sides of family affairs), but applies equally well to women.
