Does anyone follow my suggestions?

April 07, 2014 – Comments (15) | RELATED TICKERS: B , Y , E

My put thread and further links are here:

Most recent "killing" was on QCOR today as a result of a takeover offer.

I sure hope at least ONE person has listened to me at least ONCE.  The last five years I have made a lot of calls that worked out.  Not 100% which means I am human (ATPG for example) but it is all verifiable here.  Just search.  I am not selling anything to anyone.  I am not like all those website pushers who post here.  I do it simply for the love of the game and trying to be helpful to others.  I know my politics is not popular (although you should listen to me there too ;p) but if no one is listening then I am wasting time I guess.

Rec if you want me to continue, otherwise you will find me on Yahoo message boards enduring the craziness there.

I think I have seen you on a yahoo message board as well.  Good lord those have some ridiculous comments.  Really gotta sort through the nonsense to find any meaningful discussion.

Perhaps it was on the UAN message board?  I bought my first tranche of that at 24.xx before the rug got pulled out, but bought a bunch more at 17.xx.  I will be selling my 17.xx shares before we get too far into the summer and will hold my 24.xx and all of the DRIP'd shares i've received since!

Your last 8 CAPS posts have averaged 7 recs and 7 comments which is pretty good. I doubt you will get those kind of numbers on Yahoo message boards.

#1.  Yeah I was on UAN. Own the shares and made money on the puts.

Mega it isn't the recs, it is wondering if anyone actually followed my suggestions.  I have been making money as anyone can see just following my "puts" posts.  On an ugly day like today my QCOR plays has my portfolio solidly green.

I thought about ATP Preferred and CG/KKR but didn't pull the trigger. But I'm not much of a follower, nor am I your target audience (I don't particularly care about yield and I generally don't like energy/mining).

Take a page from portefeuille's book. Despite his success, he is worried that people might follow him and lose money.

I am the opposite of Porte, I worry about people not following and missing out on making money.  KKR still a solid buy.

Do you have a twitter account?  I would follow you on there instead of here..?

I am making the switch away from CAPS more and more.

Nope Rof but I would miss you here.  You were one of the few bulls back in 2009 saying buy not sell.

I definitely feel like the spirit of my investing has changed since 2009.  And it has been interesting to look back on decisions made.

I think my lessons were that if you have conviction in a company and a good reason for investing in them - hold!!!  Hold for years or a decade!  What I really learned was that I have had too short term a stance on most of my best investments.  Gosh, that has been a slow lesson to learn.

Examples of where I sold too early: MTW, VWDRY, GILD, AAPL, VOD.   (But at least I have been part of some of these.  And I am a holder of AAPL now since about $430 a share.  I'll stick with you AAPL this time!)

Examples of good conviction but failed to buy and hold: SAM, WFM, FSLR (great companies and just knocked down by fear).

I will keep using CAPS on occasion.  It has been a good place to hash out ideas, and keep a journal on why I make decisions.  I think I've felt that in the last two years I haven't made a substantially good solid decision.  Looking towards getting a better focus.

But, you should definitely think about using twitter.  Really has been a great source of info for me in the last year.

Am I too late to add a +1?  It seems that I am finally getting back to a point that I can occasionally type without pain, but I have not had much in the way of good investing advice.  I check in at times but have little to add that is constructive, so I read and rec.  I would miss you (Rof, Harry, Teacherman, Drgroup, this goes for all of you.)  Do not take my silence for absence.  As the weather gets warmer, I will be able to type more.
