They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin
A Nation that accepts public handouts for the perception of private prosperity deserves neither private property nor prosperity. Alstry
Our nation's economy is now driven by MASSIVE public deficts. These deficits are now the foundation driving incomes and wealth in America. Without the PUBLIC deficits, the economy as we know it collapses as deficits, by nature, create NEW demand and multiplying many times over in our consumer economy.
Since the deficits are primarily PUBLIC, vs primarily private before the banking crisis, the risk and reward belong to the PUBLIC, not privately. Consequently, since the value and functioning of nearly everything in America is now driven by the PUBLIC deficit, morally and rightfully, the public, and NOT PRIVATE owners, should own and benefit from those assets.
You can't have it both ways, PUBLIC bailouts and PRIVATE ownership. Either we should have let the Private fail or if bailed out by the PUBLIC, then owned by the PUBLIC.
Next time a Republican or Democrat, especially one that owns stock in a financial company, says we should cut government workers incomes or pensions, make sure they hand in their shares of stock and incomes from their PUBLICLY supported holdings.
